Magento Open Source 2.4.5 Release Notes
Adobe announced the general availability of the Magento 2.4.5 version on August 09, 2022.
The latest Magento Open Source release has over 290 quality fixes and enhancements. It includes improvements in payment methods, GraphQL caching performance, and accessibility.
Adobe Commerce 2.4.5 has 400 quality fixes and enhancements to the platform, security, scalability, and more.

Magento 2.4.5 Release Highlights
1. Security Enhancements
The latest release comes with 20 security fixes and platform security improvements. It includes the following:

Google reCAPTCHA support is introduced to the Wish List Sharing. You can add it to Create New Customer Account and Gift Card forms.

ACL resources are now added to the Inventory.

Enhancements in Inventory template security

The
MaliciousCode
filter is upgraded to use theHtmlPurifier
library.
Adobe also shared some security tips for Magento 2 users to help protect your Admin. Some of the useful tips include:
- IP allow-listing
- Using a VPN
- 2 FA
- good password hygiene
- Use of a unique location rather than /admin
2. Platform Enhancements

The platform now supports Composer 2.2, TinyMCE 5.10.2, jQueryUI 1.13.1,
PHPStan
1.5.7 -
DHL Integration Schema has been updated to v6.2.

Outdated JavaScript libraries are upgraded to the latest version.

All the outdated dependencies are removed. The changes are backward compatible.

Twenty composer dependencies are updated to the latest version.
3. Accessibility Updates
For the Magento 2.4.5 release, the Adobe team focused on creating a storefront experience on Venia (PWA). The primary goal is to make it robust, easy to understand, and operable. The new improvements include:

Screen reader users are informed about the summary of search results.

Screen readers are also informed when a new page view loads.

The accessibility of contrast and keyboard is improved.
4. GraphQL Performance Improvements
The new GraphQL improvements include the following:

Faster rebuilding of unified storefront GraphQL schema on deployment and during changing various attributes in production. Shoppers get faster page load speeds when the GraphQL schema is rebuilt for any reason.

GraphQL API capability to consume the authorization token expiration date/time.

Session usage is removed from the
http
header processors in GraphQL. -
The
bin/magento config:set graphql/session/disable 1
command lets you completely disable session cookies for all GraphQL operations. -
Session cookies are launched in GraphQL operations using class proxies only when needed.
5. Payments
Extended payment options and improved operations:
Apple Pay
A new payment option is added with the Magento 2.4.5 release. Apple Pay is now available to all Magento merchants with Payment Services enabled.
The payment method does not require customers to add credit or debit card details. Apple Pay is available on the product details page, mini cart, shopping cart, and checkout workflow.
PayPal

The PayPal Later option is now available for merchants from Spain and Italy.

The preview option for PayPal, Credit, and Pay Later buttons are now available for Admins. Previews reveal how the buttons will look when enabled and rendered on the storefront.
Braintree

The Braintree KOUNT fraud protection is discontinued. It is removed from the Magento Open Source codebase.

The Always request 3DS option is added to Braintree payments.
6. Google Analytics
Google has updated the tracking and integration mechanisms of AdWords and Analytics with GTag.
The former API is used in built-in modules in Adobe Commerce, such as Google AdWords, Analytics, Optimizer, and TagManager, to integrate with Google services.
It has now been re-implemented in the latest release using the GTag approach. ​
7. PWA Studio
PWA Studio v.12.5.x is compatible with Magento Open Source 2.4.5 version.
Its new features for the release include:

Through the PWA studio storefront, merchants can collect shoppers’ behavior data for web analytics services. You can also subscribe and extend the events if required.

Merchants can deploy a service from the Admin (Google Tag Manager).

8. Page Builder

Page Builder v.1.7.2 is compatible with Magento 2.4.5.

Users can control column settings on the storefront.

Column resizing now supports wrapping that is triggered by certain user actions.
Major Issues Fixed in Magento 2.4.5 Release
Magento 2.4.5 has fixed hundreds of issues reported in the earlier versions. Some of the major issues fixed are given below-

Changing the Admin URL will no longer throw an exception.

Issues are fixed related to Adobe Stock sign-out.

The cart total for a bundle product is correctly calculated when the Product Subselect rule is applied.

Issue fixes in the Admin Action Log report.

The correct price for the configurable products is displayed on the product page after changing its quantity.

Admin can now set the session size to 0 from the backend; it no longer logs out of the admin.

The admin can now translate the title of the
Show Password
checkbox on pages. -
The shipping page displays an error when the customer adds an invalid email.

The logo-related issues are fixed in the storefront print order/invoice/credit memo pages.

Images on the product pages are now displayed clearly without any flickering.

Filtering products by color in the layered navigation now works well.

Customer name is correctly displayed for the orders placed by guest customers using PayPal.

The functions of the unsubscribe URL in the email newsletter are fixed.
